Nikolaus Thomale

I am an incurable optimist and an entrepreneur by heart with a passion for fast-growing tech companies. Four of the companies I've founded or helped to build have later been acquired and I have been fortunate enough to also invest in other early-stage startups recently.

Since 2017 I am a Venture Partner at ECONA, an entrepreneurial holding company based in Berlin, Germany. We buy, build or invest in promising companies (like Facebook, Foodspring or Sparwelt), usually with a long-term perspective.

Also in 2017 I co-founded NUVENTURA as an Angel Investor. Nuventura is Cleantech startup from Berlin and has the impressive but realistic goal to reduce global warming by 1% while building a highly profitable business.

Most recently I joined the management of PETS DELI - a premium pet food brand we acquired from insolvency and which we currently restructure and rebuild.

Before that, in 2013 I founded Patience.io - a learning technology company based in Berlin, Germany, as well as Jura-Online.de, the leading online learning environment for law students and legal professionals in Germany.

Before that, I was an investor and COO at Luxodo.com - a German marketplace for shops and boutiques offering luxury goods in the area of fashion, interior, and cosmetics.

Previously I have been checking out companies like the law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, the private bank Berenberg, the luxury brand Montblanc and DailyDeal, one of Europe’s fastest growing startups, later acquired by Google.
